Empowering Addicts with Self Defence - Krav Maga
What is Krav Maga?
Krav Maga is translated from Hebrew and means "Contact Combat". It is a military self-defence and fighting system which was developed by Imi Lichtenfeld for the Israeli Defence Forces in 1930's.
It is a combination of techniques sourced from various martial art systems such as boxing, wrestling, aikido, judo and karate, and is specifically developed to work in real life situations.
Krav Maga is known for its focus on real-world situations and its extreme efficiency.
How does Krav Maga empower civilians? (And why do we offer it here at Journey Wellness Centre)?
Krav Maga helps sharpen your mind, strengthen your body and boost your confidence. Krav Maga is more than a workout. Krav Maga is the official self-defense of the Israeli Defense Forces. It emphasizes instinctive movements, practical techniques, and realistic training scenarios.
Krav Maga classes are offered twice a week here at Journey Wellness Centre to provide self-defense training for students of all experience levels, shapes, and sizes. Everyone can benefit from this training! Studying Krav Maga is a fun, effective way to stay in shape, increase focus and speed, and learn to defend yourself.
In the Krav Maga program at Journey Wellness Centre students will learn how to defend themselves against hostile actions, to avoid serious injury, and to overcome an assailant.
These skills have origins in Taekwondo, Kickboxing, MMA, Karate, and other popular competitive styles. Our Krav Maga programs are rooted in self-defense and personal protection which are very important in today’s society.
Knowing and using them could be critical when a person finds himself or herself in a threatening and potentially harmful or lethal situation, an unfortunate but realistic risk in today’s society. Also, Krav Maga classes have one of the highest calorie burns in all of martial arts classes, making it a workout that could save your life!
We believe in empowering our patients here at Journey Wellness Centre by providing them with this skill which will assist with improving their self confidence and teach them a new way of coping with physical confrontation. This advanced martial arts skill also allows patients to learn how to react differently in challenging situations through regular practice.
