Intensive Outpatient Programme

100% Support. Always.

Our intensive outpatient addiction treatment programme has a multitude of benefits and can be a successful form of addiction rehabilitation as a main recovery programme or as part of the larger continuum of care. The programme aims to assist in maintaining abstinence from substances, provide new skills and education to the client, reintegrate into the workplace, offer individual therapy and support groups, and prevent relapse. Journey recognises that its clients often have extensive work commitments and therefore offers outpatient groups in and out of office hours as well as offsite counselling to make its programmes and treatment more accessible.

Biopsychosocial Evaluation

Confidential and Comprehensive

Many factors can be identified that lead to the development of a psychological disorder (including addiction), such as genetics (bio), difficulty regulating emotions (psycho), or environmental stress (social). The biopsychosocial model has been adapted to examine biological, psychological, and social factors affecting an individual, to examine how and why disorders occur and determine treatment accordingly. After all, behavioural problems could be caused by social or familial unrest as well as medical issues, like poor hearing, eyesight, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), etc. A biopsychosocial interview is conducted at the commencement of therapy and assesses for biological, psychological and social factors that can be contributing to a problem or problems with a client. It’s considered a holistic assessment, looking at a client on all different levels.

Family Support & Guidance

Holistic Support

Addiction is a progressive disease that can manifest with severely damaging consequences for the addict and those around them. Journey offers an open family support group at 10am every Saturday where family members of both clients and potential clients are provided the
support and guidance during the recovery process. Focused interaction between clients and their families are also guided and mediated by our experienced counsellors. Intervention and pre-treatment counselling services are also available to the families and friends of our clients which assist in helping you help those you love.

Therapeutic Team

Experienced, Dedicated Professionals

Our experienced, dedicated professionals include in-house medical staff, expert therapeutic staff, trained and certified addiction counsellors and life coaches. Journey also incorporates the services of external medical specialists as required by the clients. A safe environment for communication is key when identifying the underlying issues that may be driving addictive behaviour because, without pinpointing the underlying issue, long-term recovery is unlikely. The extensive professional and personal experience that our team has
with addiction provides them the empathy necessary to create the best environment for
therapy.

Dual Diagnosis

Psychiatric Disorders

Addiction is often accompanied by psychiatric disorders such as ADHD, depression, and other medical conditions. Journey combines therapies as well as medical and therapeutic disciplines to address both the addiction and our client’s mental health. Dual diagnosis considers more than abstinence from drugs and alcohol, it requires addressing both addiction and mental health symptoms as untreated mental health issues
can lead to relapse. Similarly, if addiction issues are neglected this could lead to an escalation in psychological symptoms.
